We are rapidly approaching our Memorial Weekend performances at the National Museum of the Marine Corps (10:30 a.m.) and at Hurkamp Park in Fredericksburg, VA (4:30 p.m.). This year we are honored to debut the works of Frank Matthews who fought on Iwo Jima with 24th Marines, 4th Marine Division. These works orchestrated and arranged by our own CWO4 Robert Farmer, USMC (Ret.) and Anthony McDonald. You want to miss this historic concert.
Today the Washington Times interviewed and wrote a nice piece about Frank Matthews. Excitement about Matthews’ music was expressed earlier tonight when M. Walker wrote, “I can’t wait to hear it with the whole band, I bet I cry!”
Our musicians are making final preparations before traveling from all over the world and arrive in Stafford, VA. Only a small portion has played together this year. It takes hard work, discipline and professionalism to put an entire concert together in one rehearsal. This is exactly what we plan to accomplish. Sunday you will see the results.
